.NET Compact Framework 2.0

I'm thinking of creating a little application for
Smartphone devices. I have a few questions about the .NET
Compact Framework 2.0.

1) Is it included in all Windows 2003 SE Smartphone ROMs?
2) Can earlier devices download this framework to their
phones?
3) Can you only develop for it with Visual Studio .NET
2005?

Thanks

1) No. In fact, since it is in beta, it cannot possibly be included into any
shipping device ROM
2) Those based on Windows Mobile 2003 and newer
3) Yes

Thanks. I heard it was going to be released with Windows
Mobile 2003 SE, but I guess I heard wrong (or it was
pushed back).

When is the expected release date for this?

Also, one last question. Does the Visual Studio 2005 DVD
Order page update with the newest CTP build, or is it
still the same Beta 1?

Thanks

The .NET CF 2.0 will likely RTM with Visual Studio 2005 in the first half of
2005. However, the .NET CF 1.0 had a "go live" license that enabled devs to
redist a prerelease build prior to RTM, and it's possible this may happen
again.

It's also possible that .NET CF 2.0 will ship in ROMs on Windows Mobile 2003
devices after it becomes available. It all depends on whether Microsoft
provides an adaptation kit for the OEMs and whether the OEMs will opt to use
it.

Also expect a free SDK for .NET CF 2.0. I don't think anything has been
announced, but I know that Microsoft has taken the feedback from not having
one for v1 very seriously.
